Preparation for windows
Ensuring a permanent bond.
As with all aspects of airtightness, the key to getting a good seal around a window is preparation.
Your enemies are:
Dust—on the surface of the window and on the substrate to be adhered to.
Moisture—on the frame, this can be caused by condensation. If the reveals, head or sill are wet, it needs to be ascertained why and once that is resolved and they are dry, only then can they be taped.
Silicones, Grease etc.—no tape will stick to silicone. If there is excess silicone on the frame—for example, in the corners where the PVC or aluminium is joined—it must be cleaned off before the tape is applied.
Clean off mortar snots or any other irregularities using an axe.
Vigorously brush down the sill and reveals to remove excess dust and loose material. Pay careful attention to the corners.
Tap window hangers flush to the reveal.
Trim excess mounting foam.
Remove protective film from frame.
Brush down lightly again to remove fine dust.
Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the window frame to remove dust and condensation.
If necessary, use a pencil to mark the position of the tape.

Isowindow F12 installation directions
Isowindow F12 has two adhesive strips: an acrylic adhesive which adheres to the window and a butyl adhesive to the blockwork.
Isowindow F12 requires the use of either Uni Spray Primer or Bubi LF Bonding Primer.
Use a piece of tape to measure where on the reveal the Butyl adhesive will fall.
Prime this area using Uni Spray Primer.
Protect the window from over-spray using a shield.
Measure the Isowindow F12 for the reveals approximately 200mm longer than the reveal.
Apply 100mm of the Isowindow F12 to the window head and, using a dog ear to bring it around the corner continue it down the reveal and around the window sill.
Isowindow F12 can be brought around a corner by pinching the acrylic adhsive together to form a "dog's ear".
The Isowindow F12 for the head and reveals is cut to the correct length (corner to corner, overlapping the reveal tape) and applied to the frame.
Push the Isowindow F12 into the corner, to prevent it being damaged later by the window liner and repeat the adhesion process to the reveal with the butyl adhesive strip.
Ensure the butyl adhesive is worked into any irregularity such as mortar joints.
Where the sill area is very rough use a continuous bead of adhesive to seal the Isowindow F12 to the sill.
Corner details are sealed airtight using Airstop Flex.
Any irregular details on the frame can be sealed using Airstop Flex
Seal Windows in traditional cavity wall or solid wall Construction: Use Isowindow F12, one way or two way interior window tape, roll width “…………….mm,” heavy, high performance, fleece and alu backed airtight, diffusible, Sd value 40m tape, with incorporated acrylic adhesive strip and incorporated butyl strip (meets (BS) EN-1206, (BS) EN1207). OR Use Isowindow F1 one way or two way interior window tape, roll width “…………….mm,” heavy, high performance, fleece and alu backed airtight, Sd value 40m tape, with incorporated acrylic adhesive strip(meets (BS) EN-1206, (BS) EN1207), and A+ rated, Airstop Joint paste. Seal Corners permanently airtight: Use Airstop Flex 75mm single-sided, high-performance, split liner (35mm/40mm) tape (meets (BS) EN-1206, (BS) EN1207). Solidify sanded and fibrous surfaces: Prime substrate using Isocell Uni Spray primer, self-adhesive, solvent-based, synthetic rubber primer OR Prime substrate using Isocell Bubi, solvent free, high-performance bonding primer.

Isowindow Febasoft and Airstop Flex Fee installation directions
Cut Airstop Flex Fee or Isowindow Febasoft to length and fold along split in the liner.
Remove beginning of narrow liner and position tape tight in the corner. Work your way down removing the liner as you go.
Remove the wider liner and fold Airstop Flex Fee or Isowindow Febasoft back to the reveals.
Repeat for all sides of window overlapping the tape in the corner
Where necessary reinforce the corners with an additional piece of tape.
If there are window ties preventing the tape from getting a tight bond cover these with an additional piece of tape or with Airstop Joint Paste.
Where there is a gap to be bridged use a wide product such as 100mm Isowindow Febasoft or Overlap the Airstop Flex Fee with a wider Airstop Flex product.
Apply pressure to all tape with a firm rubber roller.
Airstop Flex Fee or Isowindow Febasoft are installed as airtight vapour diffusing layer around the windows on the inside. Both are applied tight into the corner, and without tension to prevent damage. Pressure is applied, by hand, or using a firm rubber roller to ensure a full bond.
Isowindow Soft-cell Foam with insulating properties is installed between the window frame and the opening, helping to eliminate cold bridging, and noise ingress. Isowindow Soft-cell Foam also helps to diffuse moisture, preventing damage to the frame.
Uni Spray Primer is used to seal dusty substrates: Set nozzle on can to spray desired width of primer. Hold can approximately 15-20 cm from surface and spray a light coating of primer. Allow the primer to dry before applying any tape. Typically, Uni Spray Primer will dry in under 10 minutes
Seal Windows in tight fitting solid wall construction or timber frame construction:
Use Airstop Flex Fee 60mm, single-sided, high-performance, plastic split liner (12mm/48mm) tape (meets (BS) EN-1206, (BS) EN1207). OR Use Isowindow Febasoft, single-sided, high performance, plastic split liner (12mm/88mm) tape (meets (BS) EN-1206, (BS) EN1207).
Solidify sanded and fibrous surfaces:
Prime substrate using Isocell Uni Spray Primer, self-adhesive, solvent-based, synthetic rubber primer OR Prime substrate using Isocell Bubi Primer, solvent free, high-performance bonding primer.
